To be a VIP on Press ‘A’ to Listen is a pretty big deal. This elite club gets discounts at their favorite restaurants, backstage access at all of our concerts, and deep tissue massages at each gaming event they attend with us. Honestly, nobody wants us touching them, so there’s really no real benefit to being a VIP except that when the VIPs speak, we listen.
Earning VIP status is done in one way: support. Whether you email the show every week, interact with us constantly on Twitter or Facebook, or support the charities we donate our time to, as long as you consistently show your support for what we do, you’ll earn yourself a VIP badge.
This is the hall of VIPs.
Jawgoosh – Jawgoosh was the show’s very first VIP, earning the status by following us on Twitter and emailing questions to the show every single week for dozens of episodes. Jawgoosh has been listening since the beginning and it’s because of support like his that we do this every week. We know that whenever we hear from Jawgoosh, odds are we’ll be reading his thoughts on-air.
Wynterwind – He’s now started his own Youtube channel, so we want to make damn sure we support him if we can. Wynterwind is another listener who has continuously written the show to provide feedback, speaks to us on Twitter daily, and always has insight for how to make the show better. I know, it doesn’t seem like the podcast could get better, does it!? Either way, Wynterwind is a true friend and we’ve evolved thanks to him.
JRubel – He bought his was onto the VIP list, literally. With the 2014 Extra Life charity event, we’ve asked people to donate to our team in order to help sick kids. JRubel donated more than $600 to our efforts. Six hundred dollars. Of his own money. I don’t think I’ve seen such a selfless act firsthand. With the donations he submitted, we’re happy to call him a show VIP and friend. JRubel has a heart of gold (and a pretty mouth).
